Parish Nurse

December’s Aged to Perfection program is Christmas Caroling with Pastor’s Bob and Chris!

Lea Kuper and Sue Jungman, coordinate our parish nurse programs including:

Food Ministry: Parish nurses visit and take meals to new parents, people going home from the hospital, shut-ins, and others.

Care Team Ministry: This ministry partners volunteers with a member of the congregation requesting care. Volunteers commit to 1-2 hours a week providing services to their care partner. Services might include friendly visits, transportation, yard work, etc.

Prayer Shawl Ministry For those who have undergone a surgery, cancer treatment, suffered an illness, or another of life’s all-too-many struggles, the Prayer Shawl Team produces and prays over prayer shawls that are delivered by the Care Team or the pastoral staff.

Aged to Perfection Luncheon: The first Wednesday of the month a lunch is held at Broadway for our senior members with a community speaker providing a program.

Blood Pressure Checks: Once a month a parish nurse offers blood pressure checks at church during the Sunday School hour.

Visitation: The parish nurse and volunteers visit people in their homes, nursing homes, and hospitals.

Medical Equipment Sharing:  Walkers, beds, crutches, and even a scooter has been donated for use by people in the church.  Medical equipment can be donated for sharing with those in need as well as checked out for use by anyone in the church.

Occasional Programs: Three all-church exercise programs each year (Christmas, Lent & Summer), spiritual growth retreats, Grief support group, flu shots. Resources on grief are sent to family members who have recently lost a loved one.  Educational materials for a variety of issues are provided by parish nurse ministry.
