Couples interested in celebrating the Service of Christian Marriage at Broadway or at a service in the community must meet with one of the pastors for pre-marital counseling for 8 sessions intended to get to know each couple and ensure their decision to marry in the Christian tradition is sincere and well-advised.

If a couple has done premarital counseling with another pastor or marriage counselor in another community, you may visit with our pastors to see about an exception to our policy.

When our pastors work with couples, we use the pre-counseling inventory called Prepare/Enrich which identifies relationship strengths and growth areas. The inventories are filled out online.

While seeking to offer unconditional love and acceptance to anyone who visits our church or attends our worship services, our pastors and congregation are bound by covenant to follow the current denominational policy that “Ceremonies that celebrate homosexual unions shall not be conducted by our ministers and shall not be conducted in our churches.” (2008 Book of DIscipline, paragraph 341.6).
