Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. During these 40 days we remember the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation and preparing to do his ministry. By taking time for self-examination and reflection, Lent becomes a time of preparation for the coming of Easter.
We are excited to come together in the disciplines of Lent to strengthen our connection to God and each other. This Lent and Easter we invite you to join us as we worship and study together.
On this page you will find all the ways to worship with Broadway and offer a special invitation to become involved in a small group where the conversation continues and friendships are formed.
Based on the book and video series “Signs and Wonders” by Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, we are taking a look at selected miracles of Jesus through the lens of historical context. For each miracle we will hear and discuss how past witnesses would have understood the events, and how we can draw meaning from Jesus’s words and actions.
We invite you to join a small group to meet in person or our private online group. Hard copies of the book are available from the church office. Digital copies can be purchased and downloaded from many e-book vendors.
Sunday worship is held at 8:30AM or 10:30 AM in the church Sanctuary or online.

Bible Reading and Prayer
The early Methodists believed that one “means” of encountering God’s saving and renewing grace was “searching the Scriptures” which John Wesley defined as “reading, hearing, and meditating thereon” (Sermon XII, “The Means of Grace”)….
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray at all times”. Can you imagine what it would be like to pray all the time? Can you imagine praying like you breathe, naturally, without thinking about it? One way to do this is by praying a breath prayer.
The Upper Room Daily Devotional Online
A place to read scripture, hear stories, and share prayers.
The practice of walking [or in this case, using your finger to ‘walk’] the labyrinth provides an opportunity deepen your awareness of God’s Presence and guidance.

Middle Age monks are know to have given pretzels to the poor – feeding both body and soul. The shape of the pretzels reming us to fold our hands as we bow our heards in prayer. Shaped like a heart they also remind us of God’s love for us.

Hot cross buns have been a symbol of Good Friday for a very long time. On Good Friday in 1361, a monk named Father Thomas Rockcliffe gave hot cross buns to the poor people of St. Albans, England. Much later Queen Elizabeth I passed a law that hot cross buns could only be made during special times like Easter or Christmas. In England vendors sold hot cross buns in the streets. Their cries to sell the buns became a children’s rhyme:
Hot cross buns! Hot cross buns!
One a penny. Two a penny.
Hot cross buns!
If ye have no daughters, give them to your sons.
One a penny. Two a penny. Hot cross buns!
