Heart to Heart Prayer Community

To submit a prayer request for the Wednesday Heart to Heart Prayer Community, please complete the request form at the Welcome Center desk and place it in the basket or email teresa@broadwayunitedmethodist.com. We are trying to capture the requests shared during worship but having them in writing helps us with accuracy.

We meet every Wednesday from 10-11 AM.  Welcome in any time you can.

School Collection Deadline
Bring your donations of school supplies to the Welcome Center table by Sunday, September 27, 2026.  Supplies will then be counted, boxed, and blessed before being sent to help students succeed.

Book Club at Broadway October Meeting
Because of the weather we postponed our field trip to the Omaha Central Library to Tuesday October 20, 2026.  We plan to meet at 10:00 AM and take a look around, grab some coffee, and spend time discussion titles for our next couple of reads.  Please bring suggestions.  Then those who wish can join us at First UMC to walk their labyrinth.
October weather can be cool, so bring a jacket. Carpooling may be available, please contact teresaf@broadwayunitedmethodist.com to arrange.

Block Party Builds Community

Block Party Builds Community

Pull Up a Chair - Chapter 3 - Thursday, September 24, 2026

This installment in the Pull Up a Chair Blog series is all about Broadway and our celebration of the larger community. These are the things that were observed and a big thank you to all the volunteers who were instrumental in the block party's success.

If you missed it you missed something special. Here are a few highlights.

Observation #1
Pastor Brian met several of our neighbors through his litter to glitter art.  The entire evening he sat at a table creating art from used pop cans with a line of folks stopping by to see what he was doing and talk with him.  Many young people came by to see what he was doing.  I even saw some trying to make flowers as he watched and talked with them.

Observation #2
There were three incredible recipes of pulled pork.  There was no voting on the best because they were all so good.  Many hungry people were fed sandwiches, hot dogs, and chips.  No one went away with an empty belly. Water was also available. We believe we served about 200 people.

Observation #3
In the last 14 years I don't think I have seen as many community partners here. Our work with other non-profits was strengthened.  These are the same partners who we call to refer someone to their specific line of help. Our neighbors got to see who we work with in the community and that we all have a common desire to help.

Observation #4
People were engaged.  Screams and laughter came from the direction of the bounce house. Music was upbeat and had us moving. I saw several delicious desserts at the cake walk. One box came with several beautifully decorated mini-cakes. I may have snuck a brownie - it may have been very good.

Observation #5
Food trucks stayed busy serving ice cream and snow cones.  They were happy with the turn out.  We hope to see them again.

Observation #6
Steve Williamson's refurbished bike ministry held drawings for bicycles.  About a dozen bikes were given.  A couple of the recipients couldn't wait to hop on and ride them around the parking lot. One replied, "You mean, we get to keep them?!"

Observation #7
I can't say enough about the turn out of volunteers from Broadway who did the heavy lifting to make the evening happen.  Shannon shared this note to all of you:

Block Party Volunteers!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and helped make our Block Party a success! Your time, effort, and contributions truly showed the spirit of who we are at Broadway UMC.

By our estimates, we served approximately 200 people!

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved as we begin planning our next Block Party this winter. We’d love to have you join us!

So, put a pin in our next event, Halloween on the 100 Block.  We haven't heard from our neighborhood businesses yet, but traditionally this event is held on the Monday before Halloween between 4-6 PM.  We would love your creativity and help as we open our parking lot and our Fellowship Hall for trick or treaters.

BUMC Kids Faith in Motion Update

And we're back!  Our Wednesday night kiddos are back in full swing and ready to learn about Jesus and his love for us.  We took it easy the first week back and discussed classroom rules and the importance of them, then we headed outside for some play time.  It was pretty wet, so we had quite a few artists draw on the side of our building, maybe you noticed some of their creations this past week?  After some of their endless energy was released, we went back inside to share what we did over the summer and had a popsicle.  In the next few weeks, we'll dive into The Ten Commandments and learn about that.
