Series: Relating with Jesus

This past Sunday a group met to organize a new creative opportunity. Led by Jan Moore, Threads of Prayer held their first get together in the Lounge. Each brought yarn or fabric squares and tools. 

The past few years we have been able to maintain our stash of baby blankets, prayer shawls and lap blankets and we are grateful for the individual contributions that have come in. That will not change. Yet if you prefer to spend an hour knitting and crocheting with friends, or if this is something you have always wanted to learn, you are invited to join with Thread of Hope as you are able.

Two groups have been arranged so far. A daytime community began meeting this week and will continue on the first and third Wednesdays at 1:00 PM in the DeLong Lounge. For those who are not available during the day a second group will be meeting the first and third Tuesdays at 7 PM beginning September 2, 2026.

Look for these groups to expand our reach with gifts of comfort and warmth.

Meet us in the Fellowship Hall after 2nd service worship. You are invited to bring a covered dish, side or dessert to share. Don't worry if you cannot, there is always plenty. 

Meet Kinnick behind section 124 before the first pitch. We will sit on the berm so bring a blanket. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance [here].

New Lite House Recover Groups
The Narcotics Anonymous groups who usually meet at New Lite House have been displaced because of funding.  As they clean up, we will be hosting the groups in the Fellowship Hall.  They will be here Saturdays from 11:30 - 1 and Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 PM.  If you are here, please give a warm welcome as they continue their journey to recovery.

Compiling Communications for Promotional and Website

If you are ministry staff or lead a small group or ministry at Broadway, you should have received an email from me earlier this week.  In the email is a link to complete a form to submit your information and a compelling statement to promote your group. If you were missed you can access the file [here]. 

Since I will be away September 4-8, please submit your information by Monday 8/24/26 to give me enough time to have them completed before I leave for vacation.

Block Party Planning Team
The team planning this year's Block Party will meet at 11:45 AM on Sunday August 30, 2026 in the Fellowship Hall.  While others fill their potluck plates, the team will go over their final plans.

Women’s Bible Study 
New study title begins on September 2, 2026 at 5:00 PM in the DeLong Lounge. All women are invited to join them as they read and discuss “Living a Chocolate Life” by Deb Burma.

School Supply Collection
Lists for the supplies we are collecting for students in our community and around the world are at the 'teacher's' table in the Welcome Center. Take one and pick up what you can. Bring your gifts back to the church to be sorted and sent out to help student learn.

Block Party Volunteering
Broadway's annual Block Party brings us and our neighbors together to share the best of community. And, we know the best part of Broaway is found in it's people. Just as we greet each other on Sunday mornings, let's expand that greeting by providing hospitality and conversation with the people in our neighborhood.
