Last Week's Message - Building Upside Down
I Am Stuck on Bandaids

I Am Stuck on Bandaids

Supporting our Community's Needs - Thursday, February 5, 2026

Some people get ear worms.  I get image worms stuck in my imagination.  These linger until I can find an outlet to release them. So, you get this...

There was a conversation I had recently that put the image of bandaids in my head. Each Sunday the worship leaders gather before we start and pray for each other, for the service that is ahead of us, and that those attending will feel God’s presence and peace. On a recent cold Sunday, a prayer request was lifted for those who do not have warmth and shelter. Pastor Brian spoke about our need to quietly step into some of the gaps in extreme conditions. We would not normally help a person with overnight lodging, yet nights where the temperature dips below zero indicate it is necessary. There are many scripture passages that tell of Jesus healing as a part of his ministry on earth.  He didn’t refer the hemorrhagic woman to a specialist or the blind man to the optometrist. He just healed them.

Philip's Cupboard Supplies Non-Food Pantry Needs

1st Quarter Community Partner

At Broadway United Methodist Church, our current practice is to donate 10 percent of our offering to a local charity, with the money going to a different organization each quarter. For the first quarter of 2026, our designated charity is Philip’s Cupboard, a nonfood pantry located on the lower level of the church open from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays and Fridays and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

A longtime Broadway mission partner, the pantry offers all the basic personal hygiene products, toilet paper, diapers, adult undergarments, household cleaners, bleach, laundry detergent and garbage bags. Last year, Philip’s Cupboard served 1,340 people with a total of 3,738 family members, according to records. Its busiest month was October, when 138 people picked up supplies for 428 family members.

Worship Volunteer Training

Worship Volunteer Training

Sunday, February 8, 2026

Join us as we split into small groups and offer training on all the pieces that make worship happen here at Broadway. Training will include; Communion Prep/Clean Up; Communion Serving; Scripture Reading; Greeting/Hospitality; and Audio/Visual. The goal is to answer all the questions you need answered to help you feel confident in serving in worship, without making you sit through explanations of all the things you're not interested in. It's a tall order, but together we can do hard things!
