Mary Oliver
God’s light, this baby Jesus, doesn’t come as a floodlight to or as false cheer to distract us from self-reflection. Instead, Christ comes as a gentle candle, offering just enough light to allow comfort in the darkness - in the being rather than the doing.
Join us each Sunday in Advent as we start our journey to the manger and the Light of the World.
Taizé is a meditative, contemplative worship style combining repetitive, scripture-based songs, periods of silence, and readings to create a prayerful atmosphere during the Advent season.
Wednesdays December 3, 10, and 17 at 6:45 PM. We invite you to join us at 6:00 PM for our Community Meal in the Fellowship Hall.
Come. Rest for a moment. Bring the burdens and grief you carry so we can hold the load together. Let us sing and read poetry. Let us be in the sacred silence. Let us light candles to remind ourselves that we are allowed to feel these things. We need not be afraid of the darkness.
We will provide warm tea, music, and candlelight. Feel free to bring anything else that feels comforting for you as we honor the longest night of the year.
Modern versions of Christmas Carols led by the Broadway UMC Praise Band.
