Last Sunday Pastor Brian re-introduced an old practice of giving to the Pastor’s Fund on Communion Sunday.
As he explained these funds are used to help those who are facing eviction, shut off notices for utilities, etc. Many times people are forced to make decisions between food, healthcare and other necessities. While we do partner with other agencies we realize that it is part of our responsibility to help our neighbors when and where we can.
To that end I have to say THANK YOU! Because of your generosity we collected $745.00!
However, our story of generosity doesn’t begin here……
A few weeks ago I heard a story about a phone call that was received here at the church.
The call was from a woman who was stranded with her wife in Washington state after their car was totaled in an accident. They needed to get back home to Council Bluffs and had cobbled enough money to get bus fare but didn’t have enough to spend one extra night getting their things in order.
They reached out to a local church nearby and the pastor said they would be happy to help. Upon meeting the couple and discovering the room was for the woman and her wife, the offer then came with restrictions…..”You will need to repent, then I will help you.”
This conversation was told to a member of our church family who took their information and worked with them to get them a hotel room for the night.
To this anonymous donor and to all of you again Thank You!!
And to our community, we see you, we hear you, we love you.
