Right now, across Council Bluffs, there are parents who count on Kids and Company to provide safe, age appropriate, before and after school childcare services for their kids while they are at work. Unfortunately, this amazing program doesn’t have the resources necessary to provide safe care for the special needs children in our schools, leaving families in challenging situations to fend for themselves.
That’s why the Council Bluffs School Foundation is working to create a pilot program that would provide the same safe, age appropriate care currently available to CB students, to their peers with special needs. This venture represents not only a new program for the Council Bluffs Schools, but a unique model of care for our region. More importantly, it models the best of who we are as a community by ensuring that all our kids (and they are ALL our kids) have equal access to the care they need.
While working toward building a self-sustaining program like the current Kids and Company, the CB Schools Foundation is currently raising money for the initial capital investment and a three-year runway to get the program up and running. That’s why Broadway United Methodist Church is excited to name the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation as our 4th Quarter Mission Partner, raising awareness of their work and pledging to tithe 10% of everything given to Broadway during the months of October, November, and December of 2025 toward this project.
Bridgette Watson, Executive Director of the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation will join us in worship on Sunday, October 19th to share a bit more about their vision. We are excited to welcome Bridgette, we are grateful for the work the CB Schools Foundation does to support education and the kids in our community, and we are blessed by this opportunity to be a small part of such an important piece of God’s work in our community!
