On Sunday May 10, 2026 members of Broadway met at the community garden across the street for a garden blessing. During our time, Pastor Brian shared “A Vision” by Wendell Berry and offered a prayer of blessing for the soil, for our work, and for our harvest for the community. We felt it was appropriate on a holiday dedicated to moms that we also remember and honor the earth as created by God to nurture and sustain all life.

Since the blessing we have harvested more radishes that have been delivered to Care and Share. Green onion seeds have been planted. Volunteers continue to show up to water and weed. Everything is growing. Our group of gardeners also continues to grow as neighbors have shown up, asked questions, and are becoming involved.

With a grant from the ISU extension office, Mike is replacing the garden frames. Even while things are growing inside the beds, he is removing and replacing the frames. We look forward to being able to place some features, signage, and seating soon.

If you would like to host a summer meeting of your ministry at the garden, contact the office. We have a pop up canopy that can be set to create shade.
