VBS 2026 is in the books! We had 17 children join us for the day-long experience which centered around some superheroes of the Bible. The kids started off the day hearing a Bible story taught by Julie and Emily Newby, which was full of interactive fun! The kids then moved to a Craft rotation led by Amanda Scott, where they made a few things every superhero needs: a mask, a headband and a shield.
We took a quick break for a snack, then we played some balloon games since it was pretty hot outside already. After running around chasing balloons, we broke for lunch and then moved right into our Science rotation taught by Brandi Carter and Michael Colter. The kids participated in some cool experiments that involved a hair dryer, ping pong balls, ice, food coloring, salt and Glo sticks. After that, the Student Life volunteers, Lexi, Cassie, and Ayden and Leader Amanda took the kids all over the church on a scavenger hunt. They had so much fun going to different parts of our church, answering questions and seeing things they hadn't seen before! We collected bars of soaps for the Mission portion of our VBS this year to give to Philip's Cupboard for those people in need. We ended up collecting 60 bars of soap!
Then, a huge surprise for the kids! We had a foam party in our parking lot! The joy and laughter was so heartfelt and was music to everyone's ears. They had so much fun playing in the bubbly foam that was shot out of a cannon all over the parking lot. At one point in the day, bubbles could be seen blowing down Broadway!
And now the thank yous. Thank you to Julie and Emily Newby, Amanda Scott, Brandi Carter, Michael Colter, Emily and Derek Kupris, Debby Cline, Shirley Smith, Amanda and Chrys Smith, Tyson and Jamie, Melanie Parrish, Mindi and Joe and Julie and Zada Flora. Whether you helped decorate, taught a rotation, stayed all day to help out, donated supplies or gift cards, helped serve lunch or prayed for the volunteers and kids that attended VBS, thank you so very much. One final shout out to Pastor Brian, who continually offered all day to do anything I needed. It truly fills up my cup when I see everyone lend a hand to make VBS successful for our youngest disciples.
