Broadway Continues to Support Young Learners4th Quarter Mission Focus Johnny Lynn Williams Longfellow Partnership Thank you to all who provided school supplies! They will be used by students at Longfellow Elementary school throughout the year. This week, we continued our partnership with the school by wishing the staff a great year. Each person has received a lip balm with a reminder that they may be the calming balm in a child’s life. Please keep the staff and students in your prayers this year. Broadway's fourth quarter mission focus will be the kids at our adopted school, Longfellow Elementary! The school liaison has spoken of the need for extra gloves (not mittens) and hats on hand as the weather gets colder. The school can then provide something warm for the kiddos who forget their winter gear. They also appreciate a few gently used or new coats in varying sizes. Winter sales will hopefully be starting soon. If you’re inspired to help, bring your purchases to the church shopping cart. If ther is an over abundance, it will be shared with Care and Share! Supporting a New School Project Broadway's 10% tithe for the 4th quarter will go to a new project under development by the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation to provide after school care to CB students with special needs. We are excited to support this new and innovative project for expanding opportunities in our community so stay tuned for more information! International School Kits An update will soon be available regarding the collection of supplies for school kits. The kits will be packed for delivery in time for the Iowa Annual Conference Ingathering early in November. From there Midwest Mission and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) will deliver the kits around the world. Thanks for your continued display of love for those in our community. Answering the CallPastor's Fund Update - Thursday, September 11, 2025 Last Sunday Pastor Brian re-introduced an old practice of giving to the Pastor’s Fund on Communion Sunday. As he explained these funds are used to help those who are facing eviction, shut off notices for utilities, etc. Many times people are forced to make decisions between food, healthcare and other necessities. While we do partner with other agencies we realize that it is part of our responsibility to help our neighbors when and where we can. To that end I have to say THANK YOU! Because of your generosity we collected $745.00! However, our story of generosity doesn’t begin here…… A few weeks ago I heard a story about a phone call that was received here at the church. The call was from a woman who was stranded with her wife in Washington state after their car was totaled in an accident. They needed to get back home to Council Bluffs and had cobbled enough money to get bus fare but didn’t have enough to spend one extra night getting their things in order. They reached out to a local church nearby and the pastor said they would be happy to help. Upon meeting the couple and discovering the room was for the the two of them, the offer then came with restrictions…..”You will need to repent, then I will help you.” This conversation was told to a member of our church family who took their information and worked with them to get them a hotel room for the night. To this anonymous donor and to all of you again, Thank You!! And to our community, we see you, we hear you, we love you. For more infomation visit:
