Pre-Charge Conference to Be HeldAn Opportunity to Share Your Voice in Broadway's 2026 Mission and Ministry Plan In the United Methodist tradition, the church meets annually for what is called a Charge Conference. As a local church, time is spent in this meeting celebrating the ministry done in the past year. It is also a time to set a vision and ministry plan for the year to come. During the Charge Conference, voting is done on the next year’s leadership roster and some of the budget pieces including the pastor’s salary and benefits. In recent years, conferences have been held with other churches from the area. This year’s Charge Conference will be held on Thursday October 23, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. On Wednesday October 22, 2025, as a way to engage all of us in the process, Broadway is hosting a Pre-Conference for those who call Broadway UMC their church home. We will have our Wednesday Foundations Community Dinner at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Then, we will invite the whole community to stay. Children’s ministry will continue to meet for Faith in Motion in the Lower Level of the church. Youth, check with Shane regarding attending. Adults in small groups and ministries are invited to stick around after dinner as we go through Thursday’s Charge Conference motions for your approval. Your vote will be taken to the Charge Conference the next night. We encourage you to come. This is your opportunity to know more about the structure of the church, learn how money is budgeted, and understand how we will live in community with our neighbors in 2026. The Foundations Dinner on Wednesday will be a soup potluck. To insure there is enough, we are asking for sign ups. You can sign up to bring a soup, side, or dessert on the white board outside the church office. Or contact Carey at kids@broadwayunitedmethodist.com to be added to the list. Don't know what to bring yet? Or just can't bring something? That's ok, come anyway. There is always plenty. For more infomation visit:

Prayer WalksSeek the welfare of the city where I have sent you, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. - Jeremiah 29:7 - Sunday, October 19, 2025 During our reflection through the Broadway prayer, we are all invited to take a Prayer Walk through our neighborhood with eyes to see and ears to hear. The walks are not intended to be a door to door campaign, but a time to silently be in our community observing the possibilities for ministry. Walks are done in pairs so no one walks alone. After walking participants return to the parking lot to share what they may have discovered. So, grab you jacket and comfortable shoes and meet in the Welcome Center and we will get out in the fresh air, and take a look around us for opportunities to answer God’s call. Announcements
Sock-tober We are nearing the end of October, which means we have a couple of Sundays left to collect socks for our area school aged kids. If you have socks to donate, bring them with you when you come to church and place them on the tree in the Welcome Center. Participation Sunday Pledge cards will be with the bulletin on Sunday Octobr 26. The cards represent the ways we will all support the mission and ministry of Broadway UMC by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. During worship services completed cards will be collected. By knowing how we all intend to give to the church in 2026, our leadership can determine how we can serve our neighbors through budgeted programs, leadership teams, and volunteer opportunities. Take time now to pray about your involvement in next year's vision for mission and ministry. Halloween With the 100 Block We could still use volunteers for the Trick or Treat event on Monday October 27 from 4-6. We are looking for game hosts, door hosts, and food servers. All Souls' Sunday The Sunday after Halloween is traditionally the day we remember those who have passed away in the past year. On November 2nd at both worship services, we will read the roll of Broadway Saints who have transferred to the Church Triumphant. We invite you to bring an item to place on the table and hold your loved one's memory as we lift up prayers and light candles. After each service a brief dedication will be held in the Welcome Center to recognize new names added to the Memorial Tree. |
